There's no real game to be played right now, and I'm okay with that. When the hammerhead concept sale came out, I mulled over throwing in for one, but eventually pulled the trigger, knowing that turret game play is likely to suck even if they find the sweet spot, and knowing that I'll never be able to convince 8 friends to fly around with me. I can see where the game is pointed, and I hope that someday it'll get there. It feels more like a prototype for the matrix than a video game. As limited and pointless as the PTU was and is, it captures something in me that nothing else ever quite has. I've probably only played 20 hours in the PTU, and I'm not really eager to hop back into the PTU any time soon. I pulled the trigger and got the Reliant Kore starter pack in 2.6 and was blown away by what this tech demo was becoming. I got excited looking at the concept art. I got excited seeing how the lore was being created. I listened to people shit on the game and try to steer people away, but the more the game development got lambasted, the more I became interested in the ideas that were being floated about to solve the impending hurdles. The game has given a lot of the backers blue balls, and now the backers are pissed that the game has teased them for so long. It's like the backers have had a crush on the hot game, and the game keeps telling them that maybe, someday, they'll be together, but not now. People regret all the time that they've lost lusting over the idea of the game that CR has promised. Plenty of people have thrown in for one too many ship and they feel like they've got nothing to show for the hundreds if not thousands of dollars that they've thrown at it. I get why so many people here think that the game is a catastrophe, I really do.Īs the years passed and more and more people became jaded and bitch about the lack of progress. I've watched the drama unfold as changes happened, milestones were missed, and directions changed. I knew from the get-go that it didn't receive enough funding to come close to the pitch that CR was throwing, but was intrigued none the less.Īt every mile stone, I was shocked that it kept bringing in more money. I had been watching the game from a distance with heavy amount of skepticism ever since the kickstarter.
Who does that? and why aren't they learning from it. let's start more controversy and give news outlets (often times THE perfect material) to write a juicy clickbait article or make a quick news video with clickbait title. let's start a concept sale and sales of land claims so every news from here to the moon can write a nice long article shitting on star citizen (and by fuck they did) rather than wait they start a ship concept sale with ridiculously prices packages like 2 weeks before it launches.
they have given absolutely no indications that they are giving even a single flying fuck about PR. HOW just HOW do they continue to do this.
I am not a skilled marketer nor do i claim to know how to optimally draw a audience for a gameīut i'm confident in saying anyone can see how idiotic their marketing of this game continues to be. It is mindboggling to me how they have done this so many times now. The project is very ambitious, so a constant cash flow into the development is in everyone's interest. It is just the constant struggle of normal people not to disappoint.īased on above I think this is a measured risk taken by the marketing and on their place most probably I would have done the same. There is no scam when you show so much to the public. I would assume, like most of you, that a new players would expect a finished game, but if they make even the slightest research before they commit, the current state is absolutely transparent to everyone. But marketing and legal messages are two very different animals. I agree there should be a lot of disclaimers attached to this video as it is very misleading to new players. This is the nature of E3, people show what is possible with their products, not what is finished tested and long matured in the hands of the players.
I think that because the video ends with "Prepare for Alpha 3.2 Update Coming Soon".īut., clearly it was intended to show the capabilities of the engine itself not the game, at least this is my take on it.
Probably the PC Gamer's version is the original one, and CIG changed it after they submitted the material for them.
